Heading South into Colorado

We veered off I80 to head south.  About 7000 foot elevation you get some beautiful views.

Kerry headed to Erie to spend time with his entire family while I stopped by Western Digital’s Longmont facility.

dscn1004.JPG

For the first time in my many travels to Longmont, I had a dinner at the Rib House.

And finished up this portion of the trip with breakfast at Gunther Toody’s.  Here I am with my nieces Hailey, Emily and Maddy. Yes, Maddy is showing an early sense of fashion with a full Zebra outfit.

Barbecue at Regis’ place

Like I said… lots of hotrodders in Green River.  Regis, Nick, Uncle Gus, John, Mike… quality cars and good people

Regis’ “house” is in the background.  Only in a place like Green River will you find a complete Model A pickup with a motorcycle in the back, greeting visitors to someone’s house.

The headlights turn on at night.  Drivers on I80 will know their in Green River when they see this!

These engines are in the “living room”.

Green River, WY greets the weary travelers

Green River, Wyoming and the surrounding area have what must be one of the highest concentrations of hotrodders in the country.

dscn0954.JPG

Our arrival in Green River inspired this cloud burst.  As if our cars weren’t screwed up enough with bugs, chipped paint and dirt.

dscn0953.JPG

And then it cleared up to give us this great view

dscn0960.JPG

Was this a test?

Kerry’s selection of Paradise Inn for night 2 proved to be a good one, made even beter when we saw it came with a coffee maker in the room.  Here is said coffee maker

dscn0926.JPG

Here’s the little cuts in the front showing where Kerry stuck what looked to be a pair of scissors in to lift up the lid.

dscn0928.JPG

And this is what Randy revealed by lifting up the other end of the coffee maker.

Some quick stops

Next up was a quick visit with mom.

dscn0891.JPG

First stop was Kerry’s house where we had to do a quick repair on his aux electrical connector.  All was made good and off we went.

After a nice Father’s day breakfast at Mimi’s, me and the (clean) ’34 are ready for the trek!
